Kavisha Mazzella

Artist: Kavisha Mazzella

"Her voice flows like tears of joy and sorrow, there’s a saltiness and warmth of sensuality here that sings the great bitter sweet song of life. Kavisha Mazzella may have the first and last letters of the alphabet in her name but in truth, there’s a power and presence in her stage performance which is simply beyond words."

(Colum Sands – "Rootin'About" for RTE Radio in Dublin. Folkclub BBC Radio Ulster)

Born in London England, to an Italian father and Anglo Burmese mother and migrating to Australia in the early sixties,Kavisha is an ARIA Award winning musician and singer who crosses musical boundaries and creates community experiences in her shows .She makes passionate, life-affirming music which is an energetic fusion of her own original music in which you can also hear echoes of Italian folk traditions tinged with Country, Celtic and Gypsy styles.

Kavisha collaborates with many artists such as Irene Vela & Peter Vadiveloo in "Kavisha Mazzella TRio" and in many community music and theatre projects. She teaches choral workshops at festivals such Woodford, Gorgeous Voices Festival Bendigo and The Complaints Choir in Festival Of Voices in Tasmania in July 2010. Overseas, Kavisha is a guest tutor with Singabout, who run singing holidays such as "Singing In Siena" Italy Oct 2010. In Australia she leads Melbourne based "La Voce Della Luna" Italian Women's Choir.
