Women of Note

Artist: Women of Note

Last year the Central Victorian Women’s Choir celebrated its first ten years of sharing the joy of singing and is currently a strong group of about forty members.

It was formed in 1999 by Christine Sass, our first Musical Director, with Jane Thompson as her assistant. Since then the choir has enjoyed the wonderful talents and experience of Andrée Cozens, Linda Browne, Kirsten Boerema and Laura Dusseljee as Musical Directors. Each of our leaders has brought to us new insights, fun and challenges and added to the variety of music we enjoy singing.

In 2004, we adopted the name ‘Women of Note’ as our performing name. It reflected the choir’s development in confidence and improved performance that had evolved by that time. Women of Note is a non-auditioning, performing women’s choir who meet weekly to share wonderful music and friendship.

The choir is a non-profit organization that aims to promote personal growth and music education through practice and local performances in an atmosphere of fellowship and harmony. The music the choir sings can be described as ‘an eclectic mix of songs’ with music that is traditional, classical, folk, popular and more.

This year the choir has adopted a lovely new colour scheme to brighten its ‘basic black’ uniform and members will be proudly showing all their creativity at their performances. A new logo completes the choir’s new look.
